Local artist Sharon McGinley’s Blue Moon grew from a canvas-sized painting into a two-story mural through the work of many community painters. Its saturated color and dreamlike imagery create a large-scale scene that invites viewers to invent their own story.

About the Project
The mural was painted on polyester sheets during workshops with students, employees, teachers, college painters, and community volunteers before being installed on the building. McGinley’s original image is rich with symbols and mysterious relationships, so the painting sessions became as much about conversation and interpretation as they were about applying paint..
